We’ll it’s been another blowout week here in Prague! Gearing up for the new EP recording session, last night, a great night of music listening to @forqstagram , part 2 of my interview with @heyness on the Loud Noise podcast (link in bio)and a killer workout with @alexandratempletonfit (everything hurts!) plus the usual shenanigans that go in here at the studio! Spring’s here, I’m headed south and I hope you all have a great weekend!
Do you find it challenging to balance your goals with your social life? Do you train hard all week 💪🏼 commit religiously to eating a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet 🍗 🥙 only to undo all of your efforts over the weekend?! Loosing fat, sculpting muscle and building the body you desire is a wonderful and satisfying process, yet it is also important to enjoy life along the way!
So here are 7 Tips For Avoiding Weekend Weight Gain.
1️⃣ On the day of your social event, hit the gym. 🏋️♀️ Train big muscle groups e.g. legs or back. These muscle groups demand a lot of work and will utilize a large amount of your energy stores. When you refuel with your treat meal, much of the intake will go first to replenishing these stores.
2️⃣ Finish your session with some High Intensity Interval Training. 😅 This should be quality over quantity; short sharp bursts of intense work. This burns a large amount of calories in a short period of time, again utilizing stores that will be replenished later.
3️⃣ Reduce your calories throughout the day.👇🏼 If you know you will be enjoying an abundance of food, minimise your calorie intake during the day to compensate for this. Remember, it’s all about energy balance.
4️⃣ Remember your protein. 🍗Generally speaking, when we treat ourselves, we do so with fat and carbohydrates; burger with bun and chips, pizza and garlic bread, ice-cream, chocolate, sweets, alcohol. These are high in fat, high in sugar or both. Prior to your social event, eat protein combined with some veggies. This will ensure that you are satiated throughout the day, fuelling your muscles and nourishing your body with essential vitamins and minerals.
5️⃣ If alcohol is the focus 🍹of the occasion, make a conscious effort to drink more water than usual beforehand. If your normal daily target is 2-3litres, aim for 3-4litres. This will minimize the diuretic effects of the alcohol, which can lead to dehydration and the unpleasant side effects of headaches, lethargy and fatigue the next morning!
