  • Shout it out for David who doesn’t let the scale determine his results! His journey has been based on the ease of his nutrition plan and how awesome he feels everyday because of it! This busy dad of 2, works full-time and is also serving our country in the Army reserves. He’s lost somewhere around 19lbs, but who’s counting?!? All he knows is that he feels better, has more energy and has a great excuse to buy new clothes!! #results #weightloss #nonscalevictory #mealplan #menshealth #muscleup #armystrong #usmilitary #armyreserve

  • Two US troops have been killed in Afghanistan

By: Kyle Rempfer
Two U.S. service members were killed in action in Afghanistan on Friday. (DVIDS)

Two U.S. service members were killed while conducting an operation Friday in Afghanistan, U.S. military officials said in a short press release this morning.

The Pentagon waits 24 hours after a deceased service member’s next of kin has been notified before releasing their identity.

The New York Times reported that the Americans were killed during a joint operation with Afghan commando forces in northern Kunduz province. One Afghan commando was also killed, an Afghan spokesman told the Times.

The joint team was conducting an operation against the Taliban in Gul Tepa District, which is completely under Taliban control, a member of the Kunduz provincial council told the Times.

Two other Americans have been killed in Afghanistan this year: Army Ranger Sgt. Cameron Meddock and Army Green Beret Sgt. 1st Class Joshua “Zach” Beale.

Both soldiers were killed in January.

Eight U.S. troops have also been wounded in action in Afghanistan this year, according to the Defense Casualty Analysis System.

In 2018, 13 U.S. troops were killed during combat operations in Afghanistan. That is a slight increase from 11 killed in action in 2017.

A Chechen fighter near a blazing BTR APC and the bodies of Russian soldiers killed in street fighting in Grozny, Aug 6, 1996.
On 6 August 1996, some 1,500 Chechen fighters led by Shamil Basayev, their most aggressive and successful field commander, stormed Grozny and managed to trap the nearly 12,000 Russian troops stationed there. The Chechen guerrillas shocked their Russian foes and overran the key districts within hours. Thousands of troops were either taken prisoner or surrounded and largely disarmed. Several attempts by the armored columns to rescue the units trapped in Grozny were repelled with heavy Russian casualties. The final result was a ceasefire that effectively ended the First Chechen War.

Searchlights pierce the night sky during an air-raid practice on Gibraltar, 20 November 1942.
Gibraltar was strategically extremely important during the Second World War, as it allowed the British to control virtually all naval traffic into and out of the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. At the start of the war, the civilian population was evacuated and the garrison was greatly increased in size. As a British military stronghold, Gibraltar was susceptible to attacks and air raids from Axis powers.
