  • Well, I finally dragged myself down to play.  Great crew with awesome attitudes -- something like 30-35 people on the mats today, I think.

I showed up just to observe, but they were gracious enough to invite me onto the mats to try things out.  Good thing o brought my gi :) I'm worn out, but everything is intact.  It was a great workout, and I think I will be coming back.  I like knowing that there's a good Brazilian jiu jitsu place not too far from my new apartment.

  • Foam rolling.....it’s a love hate relationship! Like you love how you feel after, but doing it, oh my gosh the PAIN!!! After 12 miles this morning in the fog, and then coffee and a well deserved bagel and cream cheese (I go with cranberry orange w crab orange cream cheese EVERY TIME) I needed so work those tight muscles....especially in my calves and hips😫😫😫
Let’s just say I have not been taking care of my body like I should....I’ve been pushing a little to much between working extra, cardio, and running......sorry body! So dropped the cardio-you all know I hate stopping in the middle but I had to! (Plus my Doc May have told me to as well🤭🤫)
So for the next few weeks-till April 1, it’s yoga, stretching and anything restorative to give my body some rest....and well I’ll still be running, it’s training season!👊🏻🏃‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Ya’ll, take care of YOU! You body does some crazy amazing things, and needs some extra love to keep on truckin without getting hurt! If that means switching up what you are currently doing workout wise, OK! No harm in that! 
Take care of you!;) you only have this one body!

  • Cable kickbacks can be your booty’s best friend if done correctly.
Although they’re extremely beneficial, they’re also easy to perform incorrectly. 
I am no form police 🙅🏽‍♀️🚨 nor am I saying my form is better than anyone else’s. But here are some tips and tricks that I’ve learned overtime for this booty blaster:
-🍑Do not arch your lower back, or perform these standing up straight. Think of hinging forward at the hips. Keep the emphasis off the lower back and onto the glutes. -🍑Notice how my balanced leg has a slight bend at the knee.. this is because the hamstrings are stronger than the glutes when the leg is straight. However, slightly bend at the knee and the hamstrings become weak and the gluteus Maximus takes over 🤑
-🍑 slow and controlled kickback motion. Maintain a controlled eccentric while exploding through the concentric movement.
-🍑 keep core engaged! I can personally feel mine shaking when performing these.
-🍑 focus on REP QUALITY. Drop the weight and your ego (hehe) and respect form! -🍑 mainly a gluteus Maximus dominant movement, but you can see my upper glutes raise at the top(this is your gluteus medius). Try to hold the isometric motion here
  • Cable kickbacks can be your booty’s best friend if done correctly.
