Bends 4 to 12 of the "18 Hairpin Bends" or the "Daha Ata Wanguwa" ❤️ which is a 6Km stretch 📸 A different view by @koronaaa_ 🙏🏻
To let everyone new know: One of the bends were removed and there’s only 17 remaining. It was an old British colonial supply route to Mahiyanganaya. If you are stopping to view the hills at certain bends, make sure you don't obstruct traffic. 🤣 There is also a view point at the top of the road (link below) 🙏🇱🇰
The side rails on the bends are lined up with monkeys who have been used to being fed by people who stop to catch the view. If you feel the need to feed them, there are a few shops to buy boiled corn before you start the climb or descent 🐒
⚠️ Keep your vehicles shut and protect your bags from the monkeys, they are a little curious and don't just take things from open bags, they run off with the bag itself 🐒

Best part of Unawatuna was visiting Dalawella beach. Watching 1 meter big turtles in their natural habitat is something i will never forget. 🐢 Since they swim too fast to take a photo of them, this Tarzan will have to suffice. 🐒🌴

From Colombo we drove South, down the West coast of Sri Lanka to Kosgoda, where I had heard about a turtle conservation project. This particular organization has been running since 1988. They buy turtle eggs from fisherman; eggs that would not otherwise have the chance to hatch. They then bury the eggs in sand, attempting to recreate the natural hatching process of a turtle. Once the hatchlings emerge from the sand, they keep them in water tanks in the sanctuary for a couple of days, allowing them some time to build up strength before being released into the wild. We were lucky enough to be able to help free over 100 baby turtles when we visited the sanctuary. We released the turtles one at a time onto the sand, and they instinctively headed straight into the sea. 🐢

This beach in Negombo was beautiful. I got up early and went for a walk along it’s rocky coast. Beautiful beaches and the rocky coastline with the waves crashing was actually my favorite spot it was so peaceful I could have stayed there all day. ☺️🙏
On these hot days what better to have than a bowl of soup 😂😂. No but honestly our tomato soup is one of our personal favourites and it’s VEGAN as we only use coconut milk in it. So make sure to ask one of our lovely waiters for the soup of the day. #cafeceylon#cafeceylonkabalana#tomatosoup#vegan
