Hailing from Nashville, psych-rockers Okey Dokey’s sophomore ‘Tell All Your Friend’ is a cute exploration of love’s peaks and troughs. Keeping things relatively light for a record of this genre, ‘S’gonna’ kicks things off with wavey keys and radiant vocals, before shifting focus into the bright ‘Whose Heart’ - an oxymoronic composition that positions sorrowful lyrics against illuminating composition. It wouldn’t quite be a Nashville record without some country influence - you can hear this in ‘Doin’ Denim’ via the thudding melody and trademark lyrics of “drinking ‘til the sun don’t rise”. It’s a classic combo, that continues in the likes of ‘When They Get Older’ and ‘All Hat No Cattle’. The darker side of psych is flirted with briefly on ‘One By One’ and the sweeping synth behind ‘Threw My Love Away’, coupling with a pained lyricism. From start to finish, we’re led on a journey of highs through to heartache - and each track keeps well to supply it’s own parcel of illustration.
