Healing, self-care, and personal growth aren't a competition. There is no finish line, no race, and no agenda. The full scope of who we are doesn't fit neatly on a to-do list. There is no formula, no blueprint, and no expectation unless we create it for ourselves.
It's okay to take a break from it all sometimes. It's okay to not do something that's "good for your healing." It's okay to eat something "bad" (there's actually no such thing but diet culture is real!) and binge Netflix and avoid your feelings for a while. It's okay to listen to a funny podcast instead of an inspirational one. It's okay to do mundane shit. It's okay to look at photos of dogs instead of reading about the newest healing modality. It's okay to take a break from it all.
We can get so swept up in bettering ourselves that it becomes an obsession. We easily feel like we constantly have to be engaging in these topics and themes, which is EXHAUSTING. And when we're into these topics, we are usually flooded and saturated with content about them, which can also be overwhelming. More isn't always better.
I want to remind you that you're allowed to also do things just for the sake of doing them, to remove yourself from "betterment" for a bit, and to just be human and messy and in between. There's room for that, too. ✌🏻

GOOOOOOD MORNING lovelies - had to share a close up of yesterday’s recipe (stolen from @ottolenghi ‘s new recipe book - Simple 📖) Scrambled Harissa Tofu with an avocado, lime and coriander salad (I adapted the suggested recipe a little because I don’t like cucumber!) Unfortunately today I was in the office from 9 so I had to settle with a quick fruit porridge 😒 but can’t wait to try a new stuffed courgette recipe this evening 🤤 hope you’re all avoiding the mid-week slump! 💕

Personally I find this hard. I know when I see others grieving and suffering, my first instinct is to try and stop their grief and suffering, because it's not nice to see people suffer.
However grief is natural, and normal, and an important part of the healing process, and trying to fix someone who's grieving or push them into healing can be quite invalidating and detrimental.

Day 20: Mental Health Disorders Following Concussion
Currently, there is no evidence to indicate that the mental health problems of individuals who have sustained a concussion should be treated differently than mental health problems of other etiologies. While the questionnaires utilized to assess for these disorders have not been validated specifically in the mTBI population, the same interventions for mental health disorders in the general population should be considered for those exhibiting these disorders post-concussion.
“Cognitive behavioral therapy and other psychotherapeutic modalities have well- established efficacies for the treatment of primary mood and anxiety disorders in the mental health and other neurological populations; with emerging evidence in the post-concussive population. Given the evidence, psychotherapy should be recommended for patients with persistent mood and anxiety issues following concussion.”
