That chocolate is so delicious ♥️
#tbt to Tobacco road Half Marathon. This was my second Half Marathon after only running a few months and I remember being so incredibly disappointed at the way I looked in this photo. If I'm honest I was totally embarrassed. I thought, wow I don't look like a "real runner". I had only seen all my imperfections and that disappointment had taken away my accomplishments. I had forgotten that in only 3 months I went from a 2hr06 Half Marathon to a 1hr56 Half Marathon. .
It has taken me a long time realize that you are not defined as a runner by what you look like, what clothes you wear, what pace or distance you run but by your drive to be the best version of yourself. It's the passion you feel deep inside you that drives you. Putting in the hard work day in and day out to be the best runner you can be. If you run you are a runner. I've gone on to run marathons, ultramarathons and all this with my amazing imperfect body and I'm proud to call myself a runner. .
6 easy miles today with some strides. Running can be so crazy. It takes so much mental strength besides just physical strength. I think that’s why I enjoy it so much. I’ve struggled with mental illness my entire life and running is a form of therapy for me. It helps me escape and be free on days when I feel so trapped. I’m so thankful I found running a year ago because it has definitely helped me through a lot. 💙💪🏼🙏🏼
Well tonight I had an epic workout! 💪 Well instead bar hopping I did gym hopping! I started out at Anytime Fitness and had a great upper body workout with my trainer @annaosgood then went over to Fit Factory for my treadmill run.. ( I have 2 gym memberships ) What a run it was! I went into it with the mindset that I was going to run 5-7 miles then I started thinking about how tough this week has been and it motivated me to push myself even further. I ran a half marathon on the treadmill, which I’ve never done before and did it in 1:55! That’s 13 minutes faster then last Sunday’s half and 25 minutes better then last month. It wasn’t easy. That last 2 miles on the treadmill was the worst, I had to walk a portion of it because I started to feel dizzy from having no food in me. However my mindset was determined to complete all 13 miles and I did it! This weekend I was planning on running the Boston Marathon course but due to my stepmoms funeral Saturday I’ve had to cancel those plans. Losing a loved one is never easy but channeling that sadness into something positive is something new that I’m trying. It’s a choice that I’m making because I don’t want to slip backwards mentally or physically. It requires discipline to stay focused but I know that I have it in me this time. I finally feel like I have my running legs back and I don’t want to take my foot off the gas. Im chasing that unicorn and I feel like I can touch it! I can’t wait to experience my first marathon back…🦄🏃🏽♂️ #treadmillworkout#gymhopping#twinning#doubleworkout#halfmarathon#marathontraining#pushyourself#running#runner#runningmotivation#runningman#gym#fitness#workout#runnersofinstagram#garmin#igrunners#runchat

Almost race day!
We had two easy runs this week. Tuesday was 3 easy miles focusing on staying out of orange (below 165 bpm). Today we had 2 easy miles with 4x 1 min strides in the middle. We were both giddy when we just let our legs go. Can't wait to see what Ann Arbor has in store for us this week... please no rain!!
Mindset transformation-that dreaded scale! .
The old me would weigh myself every day. I was so invested in a NUMBER. That number meant if I accomplished my goals or not. That number meant what I could eat that day. That number took OVER my life! ————————————————-
Now, I hardly ever weigh myself! Yes, I still have a scale-but I should throw it out! That number means NOTHING anymore. What matters is everything that scale CAN’T tell me. I know without looking at that number that I am happy, I am fueling my body with nutritious foods, I am running faster, I am able to do more reps and lift heavier, my clothes are lose.. I could go on and on.
It’s very hard to get distracted with the number on the scale. I’ve been there. What’s more important is your off scale victories. The wins that are priceless are the confidence booster! Focus on those and throw out the scale! Don’t let that dreaded number define YOU! You are so much more!!🙌🏻

I do most of my long runs outside with the baby jogger, but intervals are too hard to manage pushing a buggy! So off to the gym this morning for a session on the treadmill 👍😄 It's important to incorporate different types of run sessions in your training regime to become stronger and more efficient!
