  • Very few people understand the heart. In truth, your heart is one of the masterpieces of creation. It is a phenomenal instrument. It has the potential to create vibrations and harmony’s that are far beyond the beauty of pianos, strings, or flutes. You can hear an instrument, but you feel your heart. And if you think that you feel an instrument, it’s only because it touched your heart. Your heart is an instrument made of extremely subtle energy that few people come to appreciate.

  • Why are humans so quick to judge. I’ve recently noticed even in the yoga community there are a some who believe in ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ ways of doing Asana. ‘Right’ or ‘Wrong’ ways of Practicing, Meditating, Praying... Personally I don’t like the idea of calling things wrong. Many Asana Lineages highlight Different Postures, Sequences, Transitions, Alignment, approaches to Meditation etc... 🧘🏼‍♀️ Where a posture might be ‘correct’ in one lineage, in another it might be ‘incorrect’ so who’s to say which is right and which is wrong??? I think it’s important to remember that all paths lead to the Same Place and we are All in this Together. While I personally gravitate most to Dharma Yoga, I Celebrate and hold Great Respect for every Lineage and Form of Yoga. We are all in this Together. So Asana On my Friends🙏🏼🙌🏼in Any which way feels right to your Soul and your Body.☺️☺️☺️💕Let’s Celebrate each other! #allyogaiscreatedequal

  • • His words hugged me tight, I was so wrapped up in everything he was telling me. I found comfort in that place. I didn’t want to let go, so I closed my eyes and chose to believe and then suddenly it came down fast- hitting me like a ton of bricks. From one day to the next, everything changed. I had to open my eyes to reality. I couldn’t turn my eyes away from the truth or to words that may have blurred my vision. I got that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, and as much as I didn’t want to...I had to swallow pill of truth because I no longer had a choice... 💊

  • Only 7 days left of Natarjasana (or dancers pose) before we move into our next pose of the month...
The idea of repeating one asana consistently in our vinyasa & power flows is so that we can explore the depths of the shape. Dancers pose allows us to improve our balance and focus. At the same time this pose is amazing for opening into the shoulders and chest whilst creating spine flexibility.
Explore dancers pose for 7 more days and see where it will take you! ✨

I kept it slow, steady and took lots of breaks.
Wasn't really expecting to get as far as I did and ended up ripping my hands because I didn't wear any hand protection. I hate the dreaded shower or doing dishes after getting a tear so I super glue that shit (after cleaning it of course) and call it a day. I like to get the sting and pain over with once and then be able to move on and give my son a bath, finish the dishes in the sink and wash my hair without screaming in pain for 3 days (if you have ever ripped your hands you know what I mean 😉)
I don't advocate going so hard you tear up your hands nor do I believe it makes you cool. In all honesty I had some calluses I really should have taken care of before doing a high rep pull up workout but sometimes things happen. #lessonlearned #again #iknowthisshit #practicewhatyoupreach #humblepie #idontknowitall

  • Not your typical Saturday night movie 🎥 🍿 Doing some facial rejuvenation and cosmetic acupuncture on myself while we watch one 😂. And yes that’s a cat in the background! There’s 40 intradermal needles in the fine lines and surrounding areas of pigmentation - they’re so small you can hardly see them in the photograph and then there are the 8 intramuscular needles to help stimulate facial muscles to lift, tone and support brighter complexion. Some jade stone rolling before and after, a super healing all natural cream and some spritzes of helichrysum floral water and I’m doing alright ☺️🌸. If I can do this on myself you can definitely have it done ✅ #cosmeticacupuncture #facialrejuvenation #FRA #justalittleprick 😝#naturopathicdoctor #selfcare #skincare #practicewhatyoupreach

  • What do you think stops most people from reaching or even starting their goals? 9 out of 10 times it’s F.E.A.R. 😰
.
.
Fear of the unknown. Fear of failure. Fear of making a fool of yourself. Fear of the opinions of others. So you just don’t try. Not even once. If you really think about it, it’s kind of silly. Letting a single emotion paralyze you.
.
.
These were my exact thoughts today when trying to PR my split jerk. I haven’t tested it in well over a year or more - so of course when Jes put more weight on the bar I freaked. I instantly said “I’m scared.” When really there was nothing to be scared of! The worst that would happen is I bail on the lift and drop the bar 🤷🏻‍♀️ That’s it. I hit 120# once, was convinced it was a fluke. But when I hit it again - I was stoked 👊🏼 Probably could’ve gone heavier but hey, I’ll take that as a win 🙃 #BeUnbreakable

  • •Deload Week•
Traditional:
A built in week within a training program or block that generally focuses on reduction of intensity and volume with an increase focus on technique. -

From an injury prevention standpoint it’s important to deload to allow your joints and connective tissue the proper recovery time, minimum of 1 week. If the training block requires the individual to perform a lift, eg. Barbell back squats at 75% of their 1RM for 6 sets of 4 reps twice a week. The reduction could now be the same lift performed at 55% of their 1RM (reduced intensity) for 5 sets of 4 reps twice a week (reduced volume). -

As the lift load has been significantly decreased this is where technique comes into play. The training block could designate tempo lifts to the deload week where the individual is forced to control the motion of the lift by either targeting the eccentric (negative) or the concentric (positive) portion of the lift. In turn this will benefit the lifter to identify at which point of the movement they struggle or excel the most. -

Non traditional:
A built in week within a training program or block that generally focuses on the reduction of specificity while maintaining intensity. -

In theory by changing resistance- strength based modalities, the individual is still able to make adaptations and progressions to their lift as the intensity remains the same.
Examples of reduction of specificity in the 3 major lifts:
~ Back squat / machine hack squats
~ Con. or Sumo deadlift / trap bar deadlifts
~ Bench press / incline dumbbell press -

From an optimal performance standpoint, this method could be beneficial or detrimental.
1) It is too taxing on your CNS as there is no reduction on intensity therefore your body is not in active recovery at all. The change is meant to still focus on the same movement pattern or close to it.
2) The individual might not be as efficient or comfortable with the different modality which could mean the strain on the body would be less, allowing the targeted muscle to recover during deload week.

Overall the individual may choose to delay or advance the deload week slot.

Training or Recovery, which is more important to you?

  • Dear Friends,
So this week, I was back on the ortho pager covering the floor and consults, and on Wednesday I pitched my first and only no hitter, so it was a big day. For those of you that don’t know, being on the pager is a job you would like if you enjoyed your life🤗, but for some reason decided to give all that up and start hating yourself and the world around you🤯. It’s like when you were young and your mom would make you clean the dog poop in the backyard, but for every pile of excrement you scooped up two more appeared until you were swimming in a mountain of 💩. Put another way, it’s as if you were Hercules 💪🏼 and you were fighting that dragon creature 🐉 that sprouts two more heads 🐲 for every one head you are able to cut off... except you aren’t Hercules, you’re just Eric 👨🏻‍⚕️ and you still have to fight that thing 😳. Anyways, I’ve digressed massively. Wednesday I went through a whole day without a single consult 💯. It’s like winning the lottery.
Then on Thursday I got destroyed ☠️ so in the end the world always evens out, but it’s all good. As someone much greater than myself once said, “smooth seas don’t make good sailors.”
Anyways, moral of the story is that it’s important to stay hydrated at work 💧. Vacation here I come! 🏝⛱ Love,
Eric

.
.
.
Being a 'neutral' person in their life plus abiding by 'nursing patient confidentiality rules' allows me to be a non-judgemental sound board for my clients .

I get to go on a life journey with my clients.... and them on mine

And I'm truly honoured that I get to be that role 💕

  • Day 19, 20 and 21 (so 150 reps, damn skippy I won’t miss again)

Because I got my hair did Thursday I couldn’t sweat for a couple days 💁🏻‍♀️
#redhead problems
I also haven’t slept through the night since last Monday and my body is feeling the repercussions 😓

So no chest to ground burpees today.
Today’s variation: Slurpees (slam ball burpees)

The days you have no drive or motivation to move are the days you should. Those are the days that make you mentally stronger.
Had just put down the little one to nap around 2:30p and all I wanted to do was stay in that bed and sleep too.
I literally laid there for 10 min after she was out and debated with myself whether I should get up or not.

Damn glad I did. It wasn’t my best workout, strongest or fastest but it felt good to move and get my heart rate up.
I practice what I preach and I’m always telling my Gladiators to be stronger than their strongest excuse. I couldn’t be a hypocrite.

  • “The body can achieve what the mind believes...” I realized in Yoga today that one of the reasons I love it is because I’m convinced of my ability to do all the poses (eventually). In my mind I know with enough practice there is no level I can’t get to. I have been able to master many very advanced moves I once saw and yet in no way could do at the time and started Yoga six years ago unable to do a chaturanga push-up. And this is because I compete against myself in Yoga and practice constantly. (Btw, this is me personally practicing- not always pretty as you can see by my missed last transition 😜) .
.
So what’s missing in my racing ? It literally hit me that I have been lining up second guessing myself from the gun. I look at the other girls and I don’t actually believe I can beat them. If I can learn these yoga moves that once were totally unattainable; why can’t I translate it to OCR. Well the answer is I CAN. And I will ! 🙌🏃🏻‍♀️

  • Today I spent 3 hours with this little beaut perfecting his bike 🚵‍♂️ riding skills. 😍⁣
⁣
The drive and determination he has is so admirable, and each time he challenges himself he inspires me to do more.⁣
⁣
Every time he fell he got back up with a look of 'I'm not leaving until I've mastered this beast'. ⁣
⁣
At times he got so frustrated with himself he fought back tears. 😥⁣
⁣
I reminded him that there was a time when he could not walk.👶🏽⁣
⁣
I reminded him that this time last year he was unable to swim. 🏊‍♂️ ⁣
⁣
⁣
Each time I spoke words of encouragement my heart told me to listen to my own words of wisdom.⁣
⁣
⁣
To always remember that when the going gets tough keep going.💪🏾 ⁣
⁣
I think as adults we forget sometimes that from a young age we have always been falling.🤔 ⁣

We always rise! 🌦 ⁣

Everything we do prior to rising is prep!📝⁣

Let’s talk quickly about some ‘unmarketable’ industries and why creating a brand image and reputation on #socialmedia is the foundation for generating sales and leads online!
————————————
After working in accounting now for around 6 months, the main struggle with marketing I see in the industry is that it’s ‘too hard’ or ‘accounting isn’t fun so we don’t bother’...well this is nonsense!
The first step to a successful business marketing strategy for any accounting/ tax/ dental/ medical etc. company is to create a brand that represents your values and mantra❗️
————————————
Here’s the best part about social media marketing for ‘boring’ industries...it’s an area of business that isn’t saturated with constant content and engaging activity.
So this means to stand out, you don’t have to do it all, you just do something!

I’ve touched on aspects on online branding in previous posts but thought I’d share some great ways any sort of ‘unmarketable’ business can improve their social game while increasing their sales potential.

Here some great tips for creating a brand on social media:
> Organise your IG feed! Don’t be random, have a strategic content schedule!
> Get social on LinkedIn. Create a reputation for your business by connecting and commenting in conversations, this will have an impact on colleagues and potential leads!
> Utilise your logo. This can be done through incorporating the colours in posts or text, or even attaching your logo with certain posts eg. Company updates, new staff, quick tips 👍🏻

These tactics are great but they’re not the whole answer, for more advice or information about strategising your business for higher engagement and increased sales email me or send me a message 🎉

Here’s the best part about social media marketing for ‘boring’ industries...it’s an area of business that isn’t saturated with constant content and engaging activity.
So this means to stand out, you don’t have to do it all, you just do something!
