“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?”
Marianne Williamson —————————————
Who are you to deprive the world of your awesomeness? 🙂 #powerfullbeyondmeasure
There’s a road in this picture now, but can you imagine what it must have been like to be the first Europeans to explore these vast lands?
I’ll share some brief historical knowledge courtesy of @outlander_starz 😊: North Carolina, and especially the high country, was settled largely by Scottish highlanders during the 18th century as the English government clamped down on the Scottish highlands following the Jacobite uprisings. Many Scottish people were jailed and then sent off to the colonies to finish their sentences, and many left Scotland as part of the Highland Clearances which was the eviction of people from their ancestral homeland to make room for the growing sheep industry. The English government was able to seize the land in the Scottish highlands and build a pipeline of colonists for the new world in one shot. Interestingly - not surprisingly - many of the Scottish colonists were part of the colonial “rebels” who ultimately made up the armies of the American Revolution.
And, these events were cataclysmic for the native tribes in the Americas. As @samheughan character Jamie Fraser says to Claire (played by @caitrionabalfe ) in @outlander_starz when he gets to North Carolina, “A dream for some can be a nightmare for others”, the latter referring to the native population of the Americas.
I can really see how people fall in love with this place! 🇨🇴🌴
Also, I think it’s fascinating how Instagram can make a rural part of a country famous. The number of we saw/met on our hike who were going to see these trees for *THAT* shot is fascinating, and if you look up the geo tag there’s been thousands more. I should point out we did the 5 hour hike which ended here, rather than the 30 minute walk to them and back to the bus. 😂 #PowerOfTheGram

The rugby’s on entertaining my husband, I have a sleeping baby in my lap that refuses to be put down, and it’s been a while since I’ve shared any of my past styling work, so here we are. 🌾
Sharing more of the lovely home of @waters_wild owner Joan Woods in my highlights.
The hardest thing about the styling course I’ve been doing with Natalie Walton has been shooting all of my own images...being able to see the shot I want in my mind but not quite being able to capture it the way I’d like!
It’s given me a whole new appreciation for the amazing photographers I’ve been lucky enough to work with. @shantanustarick is the very definition of a photography master so styling this shoot for a past issue of @image_interiors goes down in the annals as one of my favourites 🌿🌾 And all you other wonderful photographers I’ve had the pleasure of working with...I salute you and teach me your ways! 🙌🏻🤷🏻♀️
Incoming postcards/mails of this week! From 🇦🇺 🇯🇵 🇱🇰 🇩🇪 🇷🇺 🇧🇾 and 🇩🇰!!! (And did you know it costs 4euro/5usd to send a card from Denmark? 😱) Another card from Toronto again, thanks to @daniew13 😊😊😊 And thanks everyone who swapped with me! #cancanincoming
