Okay so you all know that I RAVE about these bars! They are one of the only protein bars I really like these days. Why? Because they do not contain any artificial flavors or sweeteners and actually make me feel satisfied after eating one. They contain ingredients such as freshly ground almond butter, coconut flakes, honey, whey protein isolate, etc.

Chronicle restaurant critic Soleil Ho loves going to Isla Vida, the Afro-Caribbean restaurant that pops out of its block in the Fillmore with its bold turquoise facade. She loves it for reasons beyond the green plantains weighing down the napkin stacks on the tables or the silky-soft jerk chicken — her more romantic notions. Optimistically, perhaps Isla Vida is proof that there can be homegrown, personality-driven quick-service restaurants in this economy: Even in this dystopia, not everything has to be a Taco Bell. 📷: @bhoseasmall
