  • After working with @mattmulligan_ recently I realized I don’t necessarily have to focus on aesthetically pleasing moves to be able to experience a good movement practice. It make much more sense to me now to focus on awareness even though it can take a long period of time to achieve a better control and majority of people won’t appreciate this process as much as working toward some acrobatic move. I believe each of us see the world in different way, however each of us can offer something unique. Thanks Matt 🙏

  • What does cooking have to do with health and fitness?
_
👚The point here is to not have too many people helping you reach your goals.
_
👖I have seen cases where up to 5 people are treating one person, and where one person bounces back and fourth between many practitioners.
_
👙Too many cooks in the kitchen can lead to confounding ideas, varying treatments, and the un-surety of what is making you better or worse.
_
👗Pick a person, follow that person, and let that person help you reach your goals - too many thoughts on how to cook that risotto will surely lead to a bad meal.

  • I've recently been taking an honest, objective look at my quality of movement.
I have a harsh inner critic inside my head but the objective answer is that I don't like what I see or FEEL with my movement.
My latest video (linked in my bio) I cover a simple cue I've used to help me in a few ways:

1. Help "anchor" my feet into the ground for a firm base of support that is RESILIENT
2. Create space in my hips And ultimately relax my breath
3. Overall more sound gait and movement patterns
4. Positive upstream (shoulders, neck, etc) kinetic changes

You don't have to love the way you move but you shouldn't be hard on yourself.
We are always a work in progress and seeking to create more POSITIVE movement in our lives!

Stay mobile friends!

  • 𝗗𝗮𝗻̃𝗼 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗼.

  • ❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you @wow_women_wellness !!!! #WOW
・・・
Check out our WOW POW girl @bellyboo05! We featured her mom @cfkristabell previously and this dynamic mother/daughter duo really understands the necessity of living a healthy and well lifestyle! 💜
Belle has competed at Wodapalooza twice, finishing 3rd the first year and 5th the second. She also happens to be a straight A student who loves pho, poke bowls and the biscuits at her church!
Belle believes that “owning her wellness as a teenager will help set her up for success in living a healthy lifestyle as an adult.” We couldn’t be more honored and proud to have her join the WOW Movement! Although I do not have a daughter, my hope is that young ladies and young girls everywhere should desire to want to hear these affirmations and compliments:
1️⃣ You are smart
2️⃣ You are strong
3️⃣ You are of value and matter
4️⃣ You can accomplish anything if you work hard at it
5️⃣ You are one of a kind, let your light shine brightly 💜
No “but” needs to come after those statements! Keep shining and leading by example Belle, to inspire young girls and teens to want to stay active, make healthy lifestyle choices and own their own personal wellness journey! • Is this movement bad for your back?
Can this damage your discs?

No.. 😊
A lot of physiotherapists, doctors, orthopaedic surgeons, and the general public have to change their beliefs about the spine.

People with degenerative discs have been told that they can’t bend their back, lift heavy and do manual work.

There are a lot of examples of people who have gone back to doing the very things they’re being told they can’t do.
There is a lot of fear about the structure of the spine.
They have been told to be careful with their backs and have the fear to do harm.

We know that fear is a huge driver of abnormal pain behaviour.

A shift in beliefs has to happen within the medical, physiotherapy profession and in the general public.

We can trust our back and shouldn't be feared. It is a robust, strong structure.
Often with disabling back pain, the motor systems are overactive, hypersensitive. The muscles are guarding the back too much.
That can be driven by habits of movements, habits of posture, fear, anxiety, stress, or just the presence of pain and you developed a protective guarding response.

In this video prof. Dr. Peter O’Sullivan explains more about this problem and tells about his Cognitive Functional Therapy approach, which shows great results for patients with chronic low back pain:

  • Yesterday and Today I felt Seen. The more I follow the path of love and light, the more life brings me soul brothers, soul sisters and moments with which I completely resonate. I'm so, so grateful for the souls that see me as I am. Sometimes I even get emotional about it. So, so grateful. I feel deeply, when someone I'm talking with is vibrating love. Even by email or dm's I feel it and that has a profound effect on our relation. If you want to see someone as they truly are, vibrate in love. You'll See. Wearing @leonnordactive at @humankindspace ( @anarchoyogi flow classes Saturday 11am and Tuesday 5.30pm)

  • Patients often come in and and tell us ‘no pain no gain, right?’ ... Wrong. 🤯

When it comes to rehab and pain, research tells us it is much more important to KNOW YOUR PAIN. 🤓

It is very important for your therapist to provide appropriate education, and client empowerment in order for you to understand the pain you are feeling and differentiate good versus bad pain throughout your rehab. 💪
Remember, pain is a unique and different experience for everyone. What works for one person may not work for you. Don’t give up though, always stay positive and keep striving to find what helps you manage and conquer your pain. 🌟

I'd still like to decelerate a little quicker, and rebound out of the pocket faster.
Not too shabby otherwise 🤙

  • “You are like a butterfly
A caterpillar's dream to fly
So bust out of this old cocoon
And dry your wings off
Butterfly
Go ahead and fly
It's always such a lonely loom
Or sudden like a broken bone
You know luck won't always come along
But dry your tears away
Butterfly
Go ahead and fly
Dry your tears away
Butterfly
Don't you cry”
A favorite song I loved for my one & only daughter. She is the oldest of four. She amazes me, of course from the moment I held her in my arms, but as it has been a privilege to be her mother & watch her grow, change; eventually becoming a mother herself of the most perfect little girl 😍 Having spent most of my day with them, my brain clicked immediately to my daughter, her daughter & our song when I saw this post from @karamo but I love what he says about it, because I don’t know how to repost visit his page to find out & never, ever stop being curious, loving deeply, changing, growing, nor allow anyone to doubt your change! ❤️Love is love. You are love @kaimojo88 (Oh yesss, for the rest of you, do pilates for a very literal interpretation of the post 😉)

  • Page No. 069 from the Body Texts photography series, 2015. (Excerpt).
•
'Body Texts' is a set of photographic selfportraits of the body covered with a text describing critical corporeal states. In this series I attempt to translate the body into the language of words and tackle this issue almost literally. I tried to explore boundaries and interaction between the body and language. Particular parts of my body in the pictures spoke through the writing, a medium foreign to bodily expression. While writing through the body, on the body, by the body, as the body, and not only about the body I tried to force language to name these fields of corporeality which escapes language in every day life. I tried to verify a glossary of terms describing the sick body. It proved to be exceptionally poor. And eventually there weren’t enough words.
On the other hand photographies present the violence of language towards corporeality, which, by simplifying its sensations, surrenders to the linguistic poverty in the difficult attempt of articulating experienced sensations. There is also the violence of the body towards itself – because it tries to fit into linguistic boundaries, even though these boundaries are too tight for it. Gesture, the actual corporeal expression, is positioned in the background, beyond the focus of a camera, or even outside of a photographic frame. It is just a blurry element of a corporeal expression, 'a body text', which is not fully legible.
