Watching the changing of the guard in front of Buckingham Palace didn’t even feel real. I can’t believe that beefeaters exist in real life and aren’t just a thing from the movies. I don’t know how they do it! 😍❤️🇬🇧💂🏻♂️
Dorothea Tanning exhibition is now showing in Tate Modern. There are 2 main elements in Tanning's work - surrealism painting and soft fabric sculptures. *
All her art is filled with dreams, horror, nightmares and gothic monstrosities. One of the most memorable and famous is "two girls sleepwalk". One has hair flowing upward as if she’s underwater, the other one is leaning against the door but her clothes are floating from her body. Then there is a giant sunflower, which materialised from somewhere and is actually leading the way down the hallway in this creepy house. Other painting drawn my attention is called "Family". I mean, even a definition of a dysfunctional family won't cover it. There are several entwined bodies and you are struggle to comprehend, where are their legs, hands, corps, they are lying one on top of the other, then somewhere inbetween there is a monster/ devil head. Perhaps the message Tanning was trying to send was: Kids, when you grow up, do not rush to start a family, not a good idea.
And then there are some sexual nightmares crawl off the walls, some disturbing soft fabric three-dimensional figures. The hotel room is a room of horror with its filthy gloom and some bizarre monsters emerging from the walls and bulge out of the upholstery, some human(ish) leg emerging from an armchair and stretching across the room. This installation is called Chambre 202, Hôtel du Pavot.
Then my eyes caught another striking painting, which really does remind me of Salvador Dali style. There is a sandy desert, and a door in the middle - quite an ordinary scenery, right? And a horrifying looking woman holding a baby. And there is a dog, which actually has a baby's face and dresses up as a baby. Or perhaps this is her baby.
I absolutely loved this exhibition and no, I haven't started dreaming of dogs and babies mutants. I was probably dreaming that I need a new sofa before my old one grows some arms on its own. Then I caught myself thinking about a door leading to a sandy beach. I think I need a sunny holiday. #dorotheatanning#tatemodern#londonblog#timeout#exploringlondon#TOTastemaker#london_enthusiast#prettylittlelondon

Been so busy with work that I haven’t had a chance to get out take photos, edit nor travel. Going to Gator land (Florida) for the weekend for business but hoping as summer rolls in, I get the push to go out and adventure. #thepharaohtravels
