Each year during the cherry blossom season, the Keage Incline shows us a breathtaking scenery, with beautiful rows of cherry blossom trees on both sides of the railroad tracks.
The Keage Incline is a 582 meter long slope with railroad tracks, located near the Nanzen-ji Temple in Higashiyama.
It was built for moving equipment and boats in 1891. Today it is closed due to the decrease in demand for transportation using ships, but it was restored in 1977 to preserve its industrial heritage, and was designated as a National Historical Site in 1996.
The Keage Incline is loved by the local people as a famous spot to view cherry blossoms in the spring. The 90 cherry trees are usually in full bloom from late March to early April every year.
The Keage Incline in the spring shows a different face every day. It’s a great experience walking along the tracks covered with cherry petals. Cherry blossoms falling with raindrops on rainy days and wet with morning dew on cloudy days are also a delighting sight.

The first of many pictures to come!! Still got a few more days in Cambodia but I already miss Japan. Now I understand why people always want to go back! It was so hard trying to find and take good pictures while enjoying and experiencing everything Japan had to offer. 🇯🇵🇰🇭🍙🍣🍱🍜🍢

Getting lost and found in Kyoto, We arrived at Kyoto railway station and went to the tourist office to find the location of the Japaning office.
The office had moved 3 weeks ago but they gave us the old address so we walked for one hour only to discover they had moved. The new address was across the road from the railway station.
After dropping our luggage off we had lunch at the local place and then caught the train to Inari Taisha shrine ⛩ which has 1000 orange gates which you pass through on the trek to the top of the hill.
