Fulton Street Station - Over 100 Years Old, the Marine Grill Murals once occupied a restaurant in the world’s largest hotel (the McAlpin near Herald Square). These tile murals showcased the history of maritime travel in New York, at a time where passenger liners like the Titanic and Lusitania and those of the Cunard company made frequent headlines and sparked the wanderlust of every New Yorker.
I have always been mesmerized by chandeliers, they have so much strength and grace and this one is absolutely stunning. #100daysofjoy#day63#iheartnyc

A new book by Sho Shibuya of @placeholdernyc showcases an endangered species: the ubiquitous New York City plastic shopping bag.
Collected over the last seven years, the bags in @plastic_paper_ come from delis, shops and bodegas all over the five boroughs, but feature four repeating designs, shown above.
All proceeds from the book have been generously donated to Parley to support our global cleanup and education programs - get your copy from plasticpaper.co linked in bio 🙂 “This book is not an exercise to advocate for wasteful plastics” says Sho. “It is the opposite. It is an act of preservation of everyday design and a call to give greater care to the objects we use every day to reuse them and waste less.” Photos by @henry_hargreaves_photo and @ohmynessa
So very, very proud and grateful of our local public library. I work there regularly with the crazies, the students, the novelists, the homeless and all the regular schmoes like me who need a place to write, research or escape. It’s a beautiful vision of democracy. And their cultural programming just keeps getting better. Tonight: Deadline Artists, a fantastic documentary about Pete Hamill and Jimmy Breslin. Sold out. Q&A with the directors. Just one of the many films in their second annual #LitFilm film festival. Thank you, @bklynlibrary - bravo @hbo for backing such an important film. It makes me so happy and grateful on so many levels to call this great city home. ❤️ #iheartnyc#brooklyn#deadlineartists
Have you ridden on the @seaglasscarousel at The Battery? It was built to honor The Battery’s history as the first home of the New York Aquarium. It's less than a mile away- go take a ride! 🐟🐠 📷: @wessanne

The new Lincoln Kirstein exhibit opened at @themuseumofmodernart yesterday! Best known for founding the New York City Ballet, he was also a major figure in New York City's cultural life during the 1930s-1940s! Stop by and check it out! 📷: Museum of Modern Art #HGI35#SeeYourCity
