  • I have been so occupied writing blogs that I almost forgot to share a little something about the places I have been to over here. More than seeing a place I like to understand it's history as well. So here is something I got to know while writing about #Orvieto yesterday ☺️
_
Orvieto is one of the unique-st places to visit in Italy; a city under a city. It is not only situated atop an isolated rock but also has an underground world. Over here, there are more than 1200 tunnels and caves which are 2500 years old. Over here, you will also find cellars, wells, and secret tunnels which were used for escape in the earlier times, also for food storage and bomb shelter. In fact, you will be able to see remnants of life here. And above, the city goes on with its daily life unaware that right underneath, a few metres down, a researcher armed with a helmet might be crawling through a passage opened up by a small collapse.
_
From October 2017, chopped off the hair to fit in a little better in Italy. Well it worked, some of them thought that I am from the South side of Italy, haha! 😋

  • My second trek to EBC, was way different than the first one.
Mountains teach a lot, every single time, and so do people. This time, I learned not to expect, not to judge, and to love everyone, even if they're not similar to me, even if they have different interests, characters and whatsoever. Beauty is in variety!
.
Living with nature teaches us to act naturally, and express naturally. I was guiding along with @moonmonkeylebanon team, 15 people from Lebanon. And those people changed me, in only 15 days!
Isn't change the essence of life?
I can't wait to discover how The Hypnotizing trek to Pikey Peak will affect us. But this time I'm not expecting so I won't ruin the real magic of it. .
Join me, @moonmonkeylebanon , and @zey.yoga this April, for a spring gateway through The Hypnotizing trek to Pikey Peak. Only two lucky places are left!

Trust me, it takes a lot more than wanderlust to travel. The trek to Dayarabugyal sure taught a lesson or two revolving around this. You see, most people when choose to look at pictures of famous travel blogs and feeds, the most overused liners include “You’re living the life” and I’m sure no one would be modest or rather silly enough to deny that. Yet, behind those picture perfect moments lies hours of agony and shameless embarrassment followed by an accustomed response to failures and insults.
.
Barsu’s temperature had dropped towards the negative magnitude (almost - 5°C) and we had made arrangements for putting up a tent. One of my old friends, the kind who you just can’t seem to get rid of aka Danish was tagging along with me during the trip and not for adventure’s sake but for this situation called having less money and no open restaurant’s sake, we rented utensils and bought maggie. Prepared our chulha in the dirtiest stable we could find, unabashed borrowed water from a nearby waterfall and set down to make the most beautiful creation of mankind.
.
As the night was approaching, it was getting so cold that even innumerable layers resulting in us looking like a less cool version of telletubbies couldn’t help. My feet were so cold that no amount of will could drone me off to sleep and Danish, as the faithful friend he is, chose this very moment to start his ghastly tuned snores. After having grabbed sleep of around three hours and possessed by a sudden evil  spirit to bash my dear friend’s face after the night, I took out my tripod and set down to do astrophotography.

  • **earphones recommended** for the best feel of this garhwali folk song
.
Happy Phooldei to all💚💚
.
Came across this beautiful garhwali festival and the song while exploring Rural Uttarakhand Villages.
.
There are many such traditions and festivals in Uttarakhand that are on the verge of ending, so many have ended, which is a matter of concern for every Uttarakhand culture fanatic.
One of these festivals and traditions is 'Phoolari' or 'Phooldei' tradition, which is not much known today by the youth of Uttarakhand, but with this word there is an ancient tradition of Uttarakhand which has been running for many years.
The month of Chaitra (around mid march) according to Hindu Panchang. In the month of this Chaitra, many types of flowers bloom in the forest of Uttarakhand (Kuju, fyuli, buransh, basu, dandoli, guryal, birali, lai, malta, hinsar, kingod, aaru, khumani). These flowers are so charming and beautiful that they can not be described in words. Especially the Buransh (Rhododendron) & Fyuli, the tiny, yellow flower which grows in Uttarakhand at spring time, are over full bloom.
Early Morning, kids go to jungles & collect various flowers blooming & visit all the houses in the locality carrying the flowers. These children are called "Phoolari". They sprinkle the flowers on the doorstep of the house & and loudly sing the above mentioned folk song's line and wishing good luck.
.
It is a pity that Uttarakhand has such a beautiful culture and traditions, the present status of it is that most of the houses are locked. People are settled in the cities and the culture associated with Phoolari is also going to disappear in the dark.

.
Tucked in the valleys amidst the barren hills are villages and people that testify a life full of abundance rather than scarcity. Their beautiful communities, friendly faces and the generosity of the ladakh people radiates a sense of satisfaction and content.
.
There is no denying that life in the mountains involves continuous and untamed hard work, but the pahadi's enjoy a substantial amount of leisure. Their culture is rich and indigenous catering to Buddhist beliefs and tibetian style of living.
.
The little boy finding happiness in rather smaller things in life!
