  • So I’m just going to go off on a little rant here. It doesn’t exactly relate to the picture, but it’s been driving me nUtS the last several days. Just bear with me .
Did you know that Nebraska is in the middle of a crisis?? Although I guess “crisis” depends on how you look at it. Still, who would’ve thought that a flood would happen in Nebraska? That is, a MaJoR flood. With billions of dollars worth in damage. I didn’t. It hit me out of the blue. The sad thing is, I wouldn’t know about it if I wasn’t Nebraska born. If I didn’t have friends and family there. If there was no Husker running through my veins. Even sadder is that so many people haven’t heard squat about it. I get that it’s “just Nebraska” and that no one “important” was impacted; but this is still a big deal!! Currently I’m trying to come up with ways to help, but it’s hard to do when you’re halfway across the country. To all Floridians, you know what it’s like to have a flooding occur. You’ve seen all the damage from hurricanes. Well, what about a state that will never have a hurricane, getting damage that looks like a hurricane rolled through? They weren’t ready for this. No one was ready for this. And to top it all off, Nebraska is now ranked as having the number 1 worst winter of 2018-19. Several records have been made. Historical events have occurred. Sooooo much snow. Sooo much ice. Soooo much water. Soooo much damage. Certain counties have water restrictions. (Which is ironic, usually there’s too much water in a flood, no not-enough)
Sigh. I’m well aware that awareness for what’s going on is not going to be spread. It’s “just NeBrAsKa.” And that’s true. It Nebraska, and it’s strong. Even if no one in the rest of the country laid a hand to help, Nebraska would still heal itself. (The “no one” might be pushing it a little...) Everyone in Nebraska will bond together, and help pull life-as known-before-the-flood back together. That’s what happens in the state where I was born and raised. The community works together in times of need. So go ahead, turn a deaf ear. They aren’t depending on your help. After all, it’s just Nebraska. .
End of rant. Sorry, that was kind of all over the place 😬😅
