Today, on the subway home, I was checking emails on my phone when I heard a Korean voice. I looked up—a young girl with the iconic Song Hye-Kyo mouth—a crimson stain across an otherwise opal canvas with a cloud of black hair landing around her shoulders. She was saying something to her companion (who sat to my right) and in order to avoid the accusation of eavesdropping on a public subway, I dropped my gaze and returned to my email, but not before saying to myself how nice it was to hear Korean words spilling into the space next to me, how it made me feel safe without even really knowing why or from what I needed protection.
For dinner today, I am making a simple doejang guk, or fermented soybean soup. I chopped up some potato, minced a ton of garlic, sliced open a green chili to reveal its secrets—a vein of seeds dangling from its heart. I dumped them into a brass pot I picked up from HMart the other day, only because it reminded me of the pot my father used to cook with when I was little. My mother often worked late and at some point, my father took over as the cook. He liked his brass pots for his mungbean soup, his shin ramyun, and his doenjang guk. He loves to cook and to make things.
While wiping down my counter, I thought to myself, “it smells like our kitchen, the old one in the Wilmette house.” Linoleum floors and cheap wooden cabinets that didn’t fit together very well. Peeling yellow wallpaper and a magenta phone with a long tangled chord. Soy sauce lurking in the cupboards and fermented garlic thawing by the stove and fresh green chilis from the backyard. Somehow, all of that recreated here in my 950 sq foot condo in the South Loop, so much so I looked around for a moment to find what brought me home.
A small ramekin of freshly minced garlic. I hung the towel on the handle to the dishwasher. I have my father’s hands.

Let me introduce you people to the love of my life my nephew, mahad 😚😚 .
So It was mahad's birthday which was an aeroplane themed birthday.All of us were dressed as pilots and airhostesses :D
The cake was made on order by meenas delight.We were ringing the bell of their house but they were not opening the door of their house.We were calling them again and again as the guests were waiting.They opened the gate after an hour and when we checked the cake there it was all broken and they were not even considering themselves responsible for it and didn't even apologise for it.It was a very bad experience indeed...we had to fix the aeroplane on it somehow but failed and one thing more it was not even made the way we wanted it to be 😑 and yes Just look at the writing in which happy birthday is written.such a dissapointment it was.....not going to order anything from them again .

Con solo 15’ de cocción por capa, a fuego corona, tenemos una base para hacer varias opciones de tortas. Esta vez hicimos algo así como un postre chajá express.
Usamos la Flip de Essen, con la que preparamos una variedad increíble de cosas. Este producto multifunción es tan versátil y práctico que nos permite ahorrar mucho tiempo al cocinar. Algunas de las cosas que podemos hacer en esta pieza son: grillados, tartas dulces y saladas, tortas, masitas, panqueques, masas, tortillas, tostados, panes, piononos, brownies y galletitas. Escribinos por más asesoramiento ✉️
Por cada capa de bizcochuelo:
- 60 g de azúcar
- 2 huevos
- 1/2 cdta de esencia de vainilla
- 50 g de harina
- 10 g de almidón de maíz
- 1 cdta de polvo de hornear
- 1/2 cdta de ralladura de limón/naranja
Batimos el azúcar y los huevos con la esencia hasta lograr el punto letra. Agregamos por partes la harina, el almidón y el polvo de hornear, previamente cernidos. Mezclamos en forma envolvente con espátula hasta incorporar y colocamos en la Flip ligeramente aceitada a fuego corona por unos 15’. Desmoldamos y dejamos enfriar antes de rellenar y decorar.

Цыплёнок получается в первую очередь,сочный и до безумия ароматным ,о вкусе я вообще молчу 😁.
В очередной раз рекомендую к приготовлению !🔖🔖🔖 Кстати,прошлый рецепт бедрышек с апельсинами побил все рекорды по сохранению☝🏻.Мне приятно и я благодарна до глубины души 🙏🙏🙏❤️! Ну,да ладно,вернёмся к рецепту цыплят
Для маринада нам понадобится:
Чеснок 4-5 зубчика чеснока,
Цедра одного лайма
Сушёный и свежий розмарин
Чеснок пропустить через пресс ,добавить цедру лайма ,оливковое масло.
Соль растереть вместе с розмарином.
Все соединить ☝🏻
Курочку натереть и оставить на два часа (комнатная температура)
Далее духовка 180* на 40-50 мин.

So I finally got round to trying temple of seitan. It didn’t disappoint. I had the popcorn chicken, chips and temple main burger. It tasted amazing and from someone who used to eat meat I can say it’s just as tasted if not even more. Even better it wasn’t over priced and the food came very quickly.
