  • Thank you to @harlequinbooks and @harlequinpublicityteam for the free book! ✨ When I first heard about HOW TO HACK A HEARTBREAK by Kristin Rockaway (out 7/30/19), I was immediately intrigued. The story follows Mel Strickland, a help desk clerk at a startup tech company full of self-righteous misogynistic men who never grew out of their frat-boy phase. And like most people, she's also had terrible luck with dating apps. One night after another wave of unsolicited dick pics, Mel reaches her limit and decides to use her brilliant coding skills to create her own app, which allows women to document dating app profiles of harassers and abusers. It's called JerkAlert, and to Mel's surprise, it goes viral within a matter of hours. ✨
.
As someone who met her current boyfriend on Bumble, I was really curious to read this story. I had a few online dating mishaps before meeting him, so I guess you could say I have a love-hate relationship with these apps. What I loved about this book though is the realistic (and sometimes hilarious) depiction of all the crap women have to put up with in the online dating sphere (not to mention the tech industry). I was rooting for Mel from the very first page, and it was so much fun watching her character growth as the story progressed (I can only wish someone like her and her creative ideas actually existed). In terms of the romance, I think overall the book was definitely more focused on Mel as an individual and her personal development (which I really appreciated!). I think you’ll enjoy this book if you’ve had any kind of experience with the modern dating scene (especially if you’re frustrated with it 🙃). 4⭐️

  • “The wind took hold of whatever I felt, and ran away with it.”
― Victoria Schwab, The Near Witch
.
Happy Monday, angels!
.
Last week I finally found the time to read. Studying really is my priority but I am not going out until I passed my written exams, and that is freeing a lot of time.
.
So I finished re-reading Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare for the 6th time and obviously gave it 5/5 stars. I then also read the Near Witch by V.E. Schwab and gave it 4/5 stars – I was so surprised by it! I wasn’t a big fan of the Archived which is also one of her first books ever published and was scared I would feel the same about this one, but I ended up adoring it. It was so mysterious and atmospheric. It would be perfect to read around Halloween!
.
Right now I am randomly reading Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead because I suddenly felt the need to keep reading the Vampire Academy series after… years. But anyway! I’m having a lot of fun and I missed Adrian so much.
.
What about you all? ✨

Além de me trazer boas recordações o livro é tão criativo quanto o Alice do Carroll.

Polecam! Ja jestem zakochana w tej historii. Jestem zakochana w Ruby i Jamsie.

  • Ahhhhh Donna Tartt, for me, Donna Tartt is one of the best writers out there, I absolutely adore her, she writes such complex books, I liked the secret history a lot but as you may know, I liked the goldfinch even more, I really hope she’s currently writing and we can hopefully get a new book in a few years.

  • Nightmares!
By: Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller

Honestly I don't usually read many books that fall offically into the children's book catergory, I try to stick with teen and up. But the little boy on the back cover who looks eternally tired with a cup of coffee resonated with me.
And I'm glad I read it. This book is about a young boy whose having nightmares. Nightmares of an awful witch who threatens to eat him and lock him away and hurt his family. And to him it feels real. So he avoids going to sleep. And he's been having these sleep issues since he and his younger brother and his dad moved into his new step mothers house after the death of his mom.

And Charlie is so convinced his step mother is a witch like the one in his dreams. And a lot of kids will relate to his feelings when he's going through a rough time and no one is listening to him or trying to understand him and it feels like everyone moved on but he didn't.
Long story short, Charlie enters the world of nightmares physically. And has to find who he's looking for and get out. And if he makes a few new friends, helps some old ones get over their fears, and restores a bit of peace to the Netherworld. Well that's all in a days work.
This book is good for a lot of kids who don't feel like they're being listened to or understood but it's also important for parents to understand their kids point of view. Its deep and moving but also funny and relatable. This book is a New York Times bestseller for a reason and your kids will be happy to know there is a second book.

Rating: 4.58/5
Character: Meduso
