  • March has been a pretty great book month for me. I’ve managed to read much more than I thought I would and this book haul is probably my favorite so far this year, if not ever! SO many titles I’ve been dying to read.
·
My personal goal this year has been to read four books a month, and with six days left of March I’ve already finished five. Even with less reading hours!
·
I‘ve managed to double my reading speed since New Year’s by identifying some of the factors that slowed me down. I’ve always been a slow reader, but now I feel like that’s about to change. As I’m not reading in my mother tongue, I’m kinda proud of my progress! Am I even allowed to say that? Haha 🤔
·
I’m not saying there is something wrong with being a slow reader, not at all! I actually believe it comes with a lot of benefits. But this is something I’ve been wanting to challenge myself in, and it has been fun doing so! I just always thought I was doomed to read slow.

QOTD: Do you spot any favorites in my latest haul?

  • I am still in shock over this weekend’s haul. Let me explain. A few weeks ago I passed a sign for a book sale at a local library and made a mental note. I expected some gently used and worse-for-wear copies of older fiction or maybe even some classics. I did not expect the rows and rows of new fiction and nonfiction and some amazing classic editions. On Saturday, hardcovers were just $2 and paperbacks were $0.50! So I admittedly got a little carried away with 14 books but hey, it’s only cost me $23. That’s the price of one brand new hardcover! When I checked out, the cashier told me that tomorrow (Sunday) they’d be doing a bag sale. Fill any size bag you want for $7. You know I showed up with two giant bags. To be fair, one of the bags was for someone else but all in all, I got a whopping 36 books for $37. That’s a dollar a book if you’re keeping up around here 😉 I’ll share the list of the ones I’m keeping below. Tell me which ones I should be moving to the top of my TBR list. PS I’ve already read All the Light and loved it so much, but never bought a copy so this was my chance

  • Happy Tuesday everyone!
🐲
QOTD: do you own The Priory of the Orange Tree? Or if not, are you interested in reading it?
🐲
As you can see, I do 😂. I couldn’t help myself from buying this book, especially after learning that this a stand-alone and has a very interesting premise with badass female protagonists, and of course DRAGONS!!! 🐉😍😆
The wait was totally worth it, and I can finally have another beast of a book to my book beast collection 😂
🐲
I’m so thrilled to get into Priory! 😆 I actually read a few pages of it yesterday 😅, but of course, ya boi has a TBR to finish this month, and the next month is full of essay due dates, ARC TBRs, and finals 😭. I can guarantee once May hits and I’m done with my April TBR, I will get right on this thick beauty and read all its glory that I’ve heard nothing but great things from ☺️.
🐲
I honestly wish I had the money to get the pin from @illumicrate, because it’s freaking gorgeous and it would have looked SO GOOD on my bookshelf 😭
🐲
READING UPDATE: I’m 230 pages into The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I’m balling my eyes out for Evelyn 😭. Her forbidden romance is giving me all the feels and I don’t know if I can go on with this mega heartbreak for long 😫.
🐲
Have a great day everyone!

  • Have you ever purchased books from a thrift store?

I used to look pretty often, but I'm kind of a book snob, so I gave up after several failed trips.

But, oh baby, the books I found in today's #bookhaul @salvationarmythriftstores

I ended up with 16 books for $25 and 10 of them are the #leftbehind series! Books 4 and 7 were not on the shelves, but I'll keep hunting for them.
These books were popular when I was in middle school at a Christian school. Unfortunately, I was struggling with my salvation, so I chose not to read them at the time. Now my faith is stronger and I'm ready! #christianbookstagram

  • I found this #quote on Pinterest the other day and I keep reading it over and over.
Have you ever read something; a book, verse, or line and had to sit back in silence and think, “damn, that’s hardcore!” ? Well, that’s how I want to tell my stories. I don’t just want my readers to READ my stories, but to have them hit in just the right spot, at the right time.
Hi! How are you, let me be your writer today.

  • I needed a little book-buying therapy today, so I took advantage of Harlequin’s latest coupon (and rewards points) to make a dent in my wish list!
✨
Harlequin switched over to the BookShout app for reading their eBooks & so far I’m liking the new set up. One of my eReaders is a Nook tablet & the BookShout app is the only thing I have on it. Works great!

  • I made a New Years resolution to read more and I’m so happy I did. I spend about two and a half hours commuting every day (a little over an hour and change in each direction) and having a book on hand has made that time so much more enriching, rewarding, fulfilling... SO much better than scrolling through social media apps on my phone, which is what I used to do. I don’t read the whole way—most days I take some time to do work—but even an hour of reading a day is so great and such a nice way to get away from my anxieties and focus on something else for a while. ❤️

  • As much as I enjoy my #fictionreads, I am a strong advocate of self education. And #nonfiction quench that thirst.

My next nonfic reads😊. Do you have any good nonfic recommendations? Which nonfic book changed your life and was totally unforgettable?

  • Birthday Book Haul! ⁣⁣
Today I am officially 27. 😐😂⁣
⁣⁣
I was like a kid in a candy store. Thrifting for books is exhilarating when there are so many good titles available! I'm almost positive that I looked like a crazy person holding all of these books. 😂 ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
My TBR list is already out of control. Let's see how many more books I can add to my TBR jar. Haha ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Cheers and Happy Reading!

  • A few memoirs I wanted to get to during #memoirmarch but with only five more days left chances are looking slim 😭 I just recently bought Shout and ITS SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL!! You cant tell by looking at the photo but the colors on the front are foiled too!!
.
.
We all know Laurie Halse Anderson from her bestselling book Speak, about trauma and living as a survivor of assault. Her memoir is about the experiences she personally endured that gave her the deep understanding needed to bring these very real traumas to life. The upside down quote on the front says "The true story of a survivor who refused to be silenced." I am so happy she is out here speaking her truth.

What have been your favorite memoirs lately? Have you participated in memoir March at all? Tell me your favorites to check out down below!!

  • Has anyone else read this? It is absolutely gripping and sad and baffling. Living and working near communities affected by Black Saturday fires at the time adds a personal element to this beautifully written non-fiction account of the Churchill blazes. Would love to hear others thoughts. #booksinourhands

  • My #thriftbooks haul came in! I am finally continuing my favorite series of all time, or at least I have reason to now easily access FitzChivalry's final story. I bought two more Steven Brust books, the man is a genius and these covers are stunning (hank and tiassa). And a reread, memoirs of a geisha. Shardik because one of my goals this year is to read every Richard Adam's book and finally jumping on the hype train with Evelyn Hugo.

  • Well, all I can say is what the HECK. This book drove me crazy in the best way possible. It was the perfect mystery - so intense, suspenseful, and unpredictable, with perfectly dispersed romantic subplots. The main characters are easy to fall in love with, yet there are characters that you can practically drown in the amount of hate and anger you have for them, which is the best combination, right?! From the get-go, I was 100% on this ride with the 4 main characters, and with every plot twist I was literally shouting at the book or throwing it on the bed, then picking it right back up because I just HAD to read on. For the week I spent reading it, my brain consisted of nothing but this book (and some much less entertaining/ important uni work). But, although I hate to say it, there were a few cliches and cringey moments which almost made me 4-star it... Yet the brilliance of the writing, the 3-dimensional characters and their effortless development, the plot that made me jump and shout with anticipation, and the important contemporary themes it manages to address amongst ALL OF THAT, made it beyond impossible for me to give anything less than a big fat 5-stars!

  • “I have no regrets in my life, but this. That we did not have time. That I did not have time with you, Nesta. I will find you in the next world - the next life. And we will have that time. I promise.”
- A Court of Wings & Ruin // Sarah J. Maas .

Happy Tuesday Bookworms!
Today has been such a beautiful day. The sun was shining all day, it was a little chilly but no snow or rain so that’s a plus.
Today I want to talk about the love I have for a certain Illyrian babe...
Cassian.
Reading ACOTAR, I instantly fell in love with Rhysand, like most of us do but to be honest Cassian is the main prize in my eyes.
I honestly can’t wait to read more about Cassian and Nesta 😍
The beautiful print (by @whimsicalillustration ) and the best smelling candle are both items I received in the @timelessprintsca February Soulmates & Kindred Spirits Box! If you haven’t already, please go check out both of these amazing accounts!
Anyways, hope everyone has a rad day!
Stay weird! ✌🏼❤️

  • 🎻Rosa: I went to Goodwill this weekend and bought a whole bunch of cheap, used books and The Cellist of Sarajevo was one of them.
.
.
.
🎻The book centers around a cellist who decides to play his cello amongst the rubble of a recently bombed building during the Bosnian War in the 1990s. He plays for 22 days, each day representing one of the casualties caused by the bombing of the building, and meets three seemingly regular citizens: a female sniper, a father, and a bakery worker. .
.
.
🎻The premise itself is incredibly interesting and covers a period of history I know little about. The novel is also told from the perspectives of the four main characters, and you guys know that I love stories told from multiple perspectives. I’m about 30 pages in and I’m liking the story so far. The writing is pretty good and I’m interested to know more about each character. .
.
.
🎻Have any of you guys read this book before? How did you feel about it? .

  • Never have I ever started off as a simple game in school. You reveal simple things that are innocent. When the women at book club play they don’t know the secrets they reveal will haunt them. Everybody has a secret they will do anything to keep. How far will they go to keep it in the dark?

Never Have I Ever is fast paced thriller that is unpredictable! @joshilyn_jackson waste no time as the first few chapters secrets are revealed! Each chapter builds up and many twists are planted perfectly. The last few pages will leave you shocked as it’s not something you wouldn’t expect. (the cover & colors 😍😍😍) GO PREORDER OR BUY ON JULY 30!!!!

  • Hey book babes! Sorry about the no-show yesterday, I just had a really rough day and needed to take care of some stuff. On the bright side, it has been so sunny lately (pub not intended)! It’s definitely still a little frigid, but sun is a start. ✨
I just finished I. N. K. so stay tuned for a review soon! I need to do some photography as well 🤗 ✨
Tomorrow I get to meet the authors of Once & Future and I’m so excited!!! It’s been so lovely to work with Jimmy Patterson publishing and now I’m lucky enough to have the authors of the book I reviewed be coming to a local book store!
✨
QOTD: What author would you love to meet??

“It takes courage to be yourself when everyone else expects you to be someone else.”
.
.
.
.
Penelope is the glue that holds her family together. She is the cook, the cleaner, the disciplinarian for her two children, the organizer, all the while her husband is a stay-at-home dad picking up freelance writing gigs. She isn’t fine anymore. .
.
.
Penelope continuously asks herself, “How did I get here?”. She is fed up with her life. It doesn’t help that her best friend Jenny has the picture perfect marriage, the most adorable little girl, and runs a lifestyle blog and is insanely successful at it.
.
.
.
Then a tragedy strikes that brings to light that Jennys life might not be as perfect as everyone had thought... Penelope has to ask herself how had she not known what was going on with her best friend?
.
.
.
I absolutely loved @camille_pagan ‘s writing. The voices of the characters in this book were so real. I felt myself laughing, crying, and everything in between and Penny was dealing with grief of losing someone so close to her, body issues, her crumbling marriage, screaming kids, a “clean” house and everything else life was throwing in her way. .
.
.
Many of us know a mother, or are the mother who juggles all of these things. You are superwoman. Truly. You inspire me. .
.
.
.
I’m Fine and Neither Are You is a thought provoking novel about life... and despite all the things life puts in our way, there are many things to be thankful for. .
.

Grade: A- .
