PLEASE SHARE| So, after 3 years filming, writing and editing, and a year of looking for a home plus business affairs details, I’m utterly chuffed to announce that ‘My Autistic Big Brother & Me,’ (formerly The Walk) will air on: *BBC One Wales, Tuesday 26 March at 10.35pm.* Soon after airing, the film will then be available on BBC iPlayer for 30 days, and can be viewed from all around the U.K.
You can find more information here on the BBC webpage:
The film would not have been possible without my dear @m_e_g_h_a_n_e , and family and friends who gave their time and love in allowing me to document their crucial part in Spencer’s journey. You will fall in love with Spencer, Charlotte, Meghan, Simon, Craig, Sue, Steve & Scotty, and of course, my mum, Nicky.
Getting the film to the big screen would not have been possible without the wonderful Eric Harwood, Clare Jones, and @_edmills of @heartandsoulfilms, or Sian Harris, the commissioner at BBC Wales. And a big thank you to Robin Smith for the original introduction!
This morning while waiting for ABA I just kept staring at him. I am just so proud of him. He has come so far. Looking back at this time a year ago things were rough. I’ve learned it’s takes dedication from parents, family, therapists, doctors, and friends to make it through this autism journey. It sure is not an easy one. There will be times you feel like the world is caving in, and there will be times you feel on top of the world. Things will not happen over night. It will take hours and hours of hard work to make it. Dedication is KEY for success. It will take the parents dedication the MOST! Remember you are their biggest advocate. You are the only one to find the best therapies. Doctors. Overall, the best quality care for your child. Your child’s diagnosis will be with them forever. It just won’t go away.
In June, it will be two years since receiving the autism diagnosis. I have learned a lot. I’ve cried a lot. We also have gained other diagnosis. More therapies. More doctors.
The one thing for sure is by looking at my son I see happiness. His smile just lights up a room. His giggle will just make you giggle. His hugs will just melt your heart.
Being a special needs parent has their daily struggles, but please remember you will have the amazing times. The times your child makes HUGE progress. Don’t worry on how long the progress takes, but being happy the progress has been made. #mamatokashsvoice#autism#autismawareness#advocate#autismmom#specialneeds#epilepsy#nonverbal
#testimonytuesday ❤️ all the way from the UK. Check out what this rock star mama had to say- .
”Since getting our plate, my son with autism has eaten sooooo many new foods of varying textures both as finger foods and with a fork! This week alone- just working with me his mummy (there are no feeding clinics in this country) he has happily eaten with no gagging !!!! or reluctance at all....chunks of baked fish, meatballs, peas, sweet corn, fromage frais, grated cheese, parsnip fries, sweet potato, fruit compote and yoghurt. This is a boy who wanted everything mashed together in a bowl prior to getting our plate. Thanks 8 the plate - reinforcement rocks!!” #8theplate#autismmom
It's amazing how moments can be so ordinary for some, yet monumental for others. Many may see this as simply a cute picture of a brother helping his little sister with her shoes. What they don't see is the years of struggle with fine motor skills early on in our autism struggles that may have never allowed him to be able to do this. What they don't see is the flawed relationship between the two, again as a result of our autism struggles. About 9 times out of ten, she would have shouted something along the lines of STOP or NO Gabe and ran away from him. What they don't see is how he hangs his head in disappointment many times a day because she doesn't want anything to do with him. What I see is a rare, precious moment where this sweet boy is in his glory because his little sister allowed him to help her. This picture doesn't show they joy that radiated out of him because he got to be close to her and be a big brother. This was such a beautiful moment ❤️ #autism#autismmom#autismsuccess#stressedbutblessed#momlife#brotherlylove#toddlersofinstagram#littlesister#bigbrother#agirlandhershoes

Amy Schumer opens up about her husband in her new Netflix special "Growing," which started streaming Tuesday. The comedienne married chef Chris Fischer in February 2018 and the couple are expecting their first child. "I knew from the beginning that my husband's brain was a little different than mine," Schumer said. "My husband was diagnosed with what used to be called Asperger's. He has #autism spectrum disorder. He's on the spectrum." Schumer said there were signs early on, but she wasn't bothered. "And once he was diagnosed, it dawned on me how funny it was, because all of the characteristics that make it clear that he's on the spectrum are all of the reasons that I fell madly in love with him," she said. "That's the truth." Visit our Facebook page for the full story.

I’m a floor sitter and it saves me all the time. When admins or other teachers come looking for me, they skim, looking for someone tall and miss me. I also prefer being at eye level with my nuggets when possible.
