Let’s talk about assholes. I’ve been one. I bet you’ve been one too. We all have 'em. How much of an asshole is irrelevant, we all start healing from different places. One of the concepts in the yoga “code of ethics” is Ahimsa, or non-violence. Being non-violent is not just about physical violence, it extends into the emotional and spiritual parts of being. Self-harm isn’t just cutting. It’s the things you say to yourself inside your head. So, to voyage away from self harm is to work on your integrity, which is how you show up for yourself and for others.
Where to start? With yourself. Fill your cup, because once it’s full your goodness will overflow easily to others. Are you doing something because it’s a YES, or because you’re avoiding having a hard conversation? To ‘feel bad’ for someone is to take on their suffering, and that ain’t your shit. Sometimes integrity isn’t about doing the thing you said you would do. Sometimes it’s about honoring that knot in your stomach.
If you put something out into the world prematurely because you’re grasping for identity or money you’re out of integrity and you’re hurting others by devaluing their experience. You have to walk your talk to have the identity you want. Don’t have time for it? Take a break. Also, don’t overcook it. Anytime control issues come into play, some level of harm is bound to be done. This is why integrity is important. This is why self-reflection is important. This is why listening to feedback is important. Get to the root of your discomfort, because suffering is a request for change. Integrity should radiate from you like rays of the sun, not like the sticky tangles of a spiderweb. You’re not designed to be a spider. If you’re looking for a way to start a yoga practice in the comfort of your own home. Here is a beginning sequence that is a great place to start. The Sun Salutation is a graceful sequence of twelve positions performed as one continuous flow. Each position counteracts the one before, stretching the body in a different way and alternately expanding and contracting the chest to regulate the breathing. The sequence also flexes and stretches the spinal column through their maximum range giving profound stretch to the whole body. Practiced daily it will bring great flexibility to your spine and joints and trim your waist. It limbers up the whole body in preparation for the other Asanas (postures) that are practiced as part of a regular yoga routine. Repeat 5-10 times (or more) bringing right leg back then forth first THEN left leg back then forth. For a nice easy practice ☺️
Feel free to modify to increase or decrease difficulty. Follow your body nothing should ever hurt, cause strain or pain. 🙏🏼✨

How to fail at Veganism. I’m sharing a powerful little text I once saw on @801010athlete stories and that resonated deeply with me. I am tired of this young, uneducated youtubers bashing veganism and not only giving a bad name to this way of living, but also disencouraging impressionable people to make the change, or at least give it a try. Check the 💩 path this youtubers take in their videos:
“At some point during your journey do one or even better all of the following:
1. Water fast, the longer the better
2. Become terrified of cooked food (ie calorie restriction)
3. Do extended Juice cleanses/fast
4. Eliminate certain beneficial whole foods (ie legumes and whole grains)
5. Take over priced supplements in place of food
6. Develop a massive ego and become so important that you forget what Veganism actually is (not about you)
7. Avoid b12 and vitamin D
8. And if all else fails drink your own piss”. If you want to learn about veganism follow people that base their lifestyle not only in compassion but also in SCIENCE. The raw-vegan girl that claims she doesn't need b12 supplement must not be our role model. My first inspiration to make the switch from vegetarian to vegan was @dharmayoganyc, and now i also follow people like @drgarthdavis, @angie.sadeghi, @plantpowerdoctor, @dr.mauriciogonzalez, @plantbasednews, @micthevegan and many more. Knowledge is power my friends. End of rant. And for those leaving animals off your plate, I love you, thank you!
Asking yourself "what is my purpose for doing this pose?" can open the door to variations that are not only safer but also feel better and provide more benefits. Yes, some people (like dancers & gymnasts) may go for the aesthetics of the pose...and that's great. But if you're simply trying to force yourself into a shape for the sake of the shape you're not "doing yoga". Ahimsa, or non-harming, applies to ourselves. If a posture is causing us harm we should welcome modifications (or even skip the pose all together). It doesn't mean you're limited or not "advanced"...it means you're honoring your physical body. Yoga is a moving meditation that prepares us for seated meditation. It helps to clear the pipes (nadis) so prana can flow through our bodies. Compromising our health by forcing postures does the exact opposite.

Coffee or no coffee? If ahimsa (kindness) extends to the health and wellbeing of the planet with every choice, coffee for me, is an area where I am able to rationalize my relationship with this stimulant.
I always make it myself (no single use cups) in a French Press with bulk beans that are Fair Trade Certified. I have one cup a day.
Is it really kind to my body? If you ask my ego, she would say, “yes”!Every plant has medicinal properties and coffee not only makes me feel happy, but everyone around me is also going to have a better day if I have had my cup of Joe.
Is coffee kind to the planet? That also depends on who you ask, right?
My point this morning is that we are all human beings. Non of us are perfect and we can rationalize anything depending on how much we know.
Today, I’m going to educate myself on the carbon footprint of coffee, the jobs created through farming the beans, etc.
if we can educate ourselves as to different perspectives, we can collaborate for the same purpose.
There are no “sides” when it comes to climate change. There was an Ice Age once. There will be another. Solutions to anything require education and collaboration with all beings for the same purpose.

I consider myself a strong person, but I’ve realised I’m also kind of a pushover when it comes to people I care about. 😐 I can quite easily be talked into doing something my gut instinct is telling me to stay away from. This is a new realisation for me and I refuse to let it continue. I would think friends and loved ones wouldn’t take advantage of these types of traits, but sadly that’s not the case. 😔 ✨After working through a ton of emotions in a two hour yoga practice this morning, I feel amaaaaazing. 🤩 Deciding to work on making myself a priority and putting myself first feels so good. 😍Here’s to everyone giving themselves a bit of extra love today.
