  • Sh. 7 - Paper flowers - I recently applied for a job with a company that I would love to work for. They asked me to write a cover letter that was personal so they could understand me better. It's a company that focuses on the crafting market. One of the things they ask is what type of DIY or craft type things do you do? Which got me thinking of a few things, these first few posts reflect some of the things that I made for my oldest daughters wedding.
We couldn't really afford much so we had to DIY it. I made my daughters bouquet, boutonnieres for the groom, boutonnieres for 8 (I think) groomsmen, and single rose corsages for both mothers. They say, necessity is the mother of invention, if that we're the case then ‘the mother’ has moved in with us. I had two really nice sheets of 90lb cold press D'arches watercolor paper that i had been dragging around for years. I bought some cheap paper cake pop sticks, pulled out scissors and watercolor paint and started creating. It took some experimenting, but I started with my daughters bouquet, the groom's boutonniere, then the mother's corsages, and finally the boutonnieres for the groomsmen, I wanted to do small bouquets for the bridesmaids, but I ran out of time. These are four or five years old and have survived two moves so they are a little beat up, but at the time most people didn't even realize that they were paper. I will get the bride's bouquet from my daughter so I can take pictures, but for now, here's my wife's courage and one of the boutonnieres one of my sons wore.
